| Organic cotton at Pierre Frey |
As an up to date company, leader on the French market, Pierre Frey is always looking for modern ways to give its’ customers new options.
For its’ 2008 collection, Pierre Frey’s textile design team has explored the use of organic cotton to create products that are fashionable, trendy and environmentally friendly at the same time.
These fabrics are introduced in response to growing awareness of customers on ecological issues and as part of the company’s commitment to remain innovative and forward-looking.

This led to the creation of three fabrics:
“Esprit”a plain available in 22 warm pastel colours
“Celeste” a two colour stripe available in 6 different varieties that match the plain Esprit
“Aurore” a two colour check available in 4 different varieties that also match the plain Esprit. |

The cotton used by PIERRE FREY is certified by the Institute for Marketecology IMO, an international agency for inspection, certification and quality assurance of eco-friendly products.
Certified organic cotton is grown without the use of synthetic pesticides and fertilizers that are harmful to the environment. It is softer and suppler than traditionally grown cotton and has anti-allergy specificities.
It is grown in fields located at Ýzmir, Turkey where IMO insures not only the respect of the environment in accordance to European Union directives but also the respect of human working conditions. The cotton is then dyed in Turkey. The IMO certification also covers the dyeing procedure. Therefore the dyes used have a less harmful impact on the environment than synthetic dyes.
The cotton is then woven in France at Pierre Frey’s production factory Margueroy.
Hence these three fabrics taken in account the protection of the environment and of the well being of the customer.

All the fabrics in the collection that include organic cotton now have a special label “PURE NATURE”, so that customers can easily distinguish them.
PIERRE FREY has the firm intention to introduce additional fabrics with organic cotton or other organic materials in coming collections. |
