Carpets > a high fashion service
Each creation is therefore unique, produced from this subtle alchemy between technique and creativity that, step by step, designs the rugs or carpet of your dreams in accordance with your style, place, budget, etc.
This department of the House of Pierre Frey offers of an overall service. In an endeavour to cater for even the most specific requests, its expertise supports and advises customers from the concept through to its production, in a spirit of close collaboration.
FThe Braquenié house was founded in the 19th century and since then has contributed to maintaining the art of tapestry in Aubusson. An art for which it has been widely rewarded, particularly during the universal exhibition in 1844. It subsequently received the "Manufacture Royale de tapis" patent from Louis-Philippe in 1847. Since then, Braquenié has relentlessly worked for the greatest (Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin, Baron Haussmann, Duke of Padoue, Victor Hugo, sultan Saïd Pasha, Emperor Maximilien, Emperor Guillaume II as well as for Napoleon III, Theodore Roosevelt, etc. ) and has lost count of the palaces and monuments in France and abroad in which even today still tread upon sumptuous rugs and carpets from the house.
Our rugs and carpet department contributes to an increasingly diverse range of projects. The quality of the archives and proposals from the designers meet the most demanding requests from professionals for Ambassadors, classified sites, hotels but also private residences. The diversity of qualities currently enables traditional carpets to be woven in small widths but also more up-to-date carpets mixing wool and silk in large widths. As for the rugs, they may be flat Aubusson-type, or have a softer velvet-like appearance cut using different techniques, Savonnerie-type hand-knotted or hand-tufted.The beauty of a rug lies in its design. This is why we very regularly work with our archive drawings.
