Estudio Persona was created by Emiliana Gonzalez and Jessie Young. Born in Uruguay, the two young women met in Los Angeles. They decided to join forces in 2015 after working together on numerous collaborative projects. Their unconventional design revolves around strong designs combined with a minimalist approach. Working with natural materials in an eclectic way, they embody a unique practice that is constantly evolving, with feminine and sculptural lines. Fascinated by traditional craftsmanship, they work with many local makers. During these collaborations, they question their creative process to adapt their work to the needs of their clients and to the constraints induced by each material and know-how.
Designed by Estudio Persona, the RUBAN line pays tribute to this narrow strip of fabric as a link between the physical and the emotional. The chair and bench react to each other in a continuous dialogue of lines. The great simplicity of their form contrasts with the complexity of the reproduction of movement, like a wooden origami. Entirely covered in a very flexible fabric that allows it to slip into the folds of the ribbon, the pieces designed by Estudio Persona stand out for their very graphic aesthetic.
