This motif is a reproduction of an Indian woman printed in Jouy-en-Josas in the last quarter of the 18th century. Around 1778, the first Indian-inspired motifs appeared in the productions of the famous Oberkampf manufactory, which had a rich collection of Indians from which the designers drew inspiration. Initially restricted to furniture, Jouy's "Persians" were later used for dresses. This taste persists during the last two decades of the 18th century. The original document, printed on a wooden plank, is kept in the heritage archives of Maison Pierre Frey.
