Maison Pierre Frey responds to the changing needs of its customers and offers a new range of wall coverings that are more resistant and easy to maintain; vinyl wallpapers. Functional and particularly suitable for areas with access, they are designed with a layer of synthetic material applied to the surface of a paper or non-woven backing. This material is worked in a multitude of "grains" that interact with the patterns and challenge the creativity of the studio and the various designers who collaborate with the House on this type of coating.
Born in Madagascar, Luc Deflandre is a designer and decorator who touches everything. He shares Gauguin's taste for exoticism, nature and bright, wild colours; the book El Ojo de Miro does not leave him and protects him from the evil eye. A wall in his studio is dedicated to Victor Hugo, whom he admires as a poet and decorator. Everything artistic and visual fascinates him: the garden, design, fabrics, painting, photography, architecture... Without any hierarchy, art and decorative arts inspire him to try all kinds of creative languages. He makes his drawings with thick felts and bold pastels using very graphic, coloured and "matt" elements. The pattern of the weft is the main thread of his creations. He builds space, changing the perception through the play of colours, materials and intertwining lines.
The RENDEZ-VOUS collection takes its inspiration from textiles from across the globe and among many cultures. A creative spirit sails along interlacing threads and among bobbins and textile weaves as it takes a new look at wall fabrics.
This contemporary encounter between walls and textiles has been expressed with enthusiasm by Maison Pierre Frey through various figured and plain designs in embossed vinyl. Each creation presents a singular raised surface that reflects the manual work of artisanal weavers and delicately highlights its authenticity by suggesting the irregularity of fibers and the woven structure.
