The new collection of panoramic wallpapers Galerie 2 by Pierre Frey, from which Voyage en Toscane is derived, is not limited to a series of drawings without apparent logic, but is made up of original works each with their own history and specificity. All these drawings have been created in collaboration with artists: favourites of Patrick Frey and his team, commissions from classical draftsmen or street artists, reproductions of works by 18th or 19th century painters... This collection, with its great variety of themes and artistic techniques, perfectly reflects the independent and singular spirit of the House of Pierre Frey.
Looking for a gift for one of his grandchildren, Patrick Frey finds an incredible card game called Myriorama. The fabric and wallpaper editor is fascinated and very inspired by all these tiny images with interchangeable designs that can be arranged side by side and in any direction to form, according to each person's imagination and to infinity, multiple different scenes.
Amused, he decided to create in XXL version his own Myriorama and designed the unusual panoramic travel in Tuscany.
The trip to Tuscany required more than two years of painting, reflection and development with the artist. With the help of the three illustrated panels depicting the sea, the countryside or the mountains, it is possible to create one's own imaginary landscape with an Italian accent. Each scene connects without any defined order, with itself or with the other two references.
While waiting for Patrick Frey's next challenges to his creative team and the drawing artists he is used to working with, several other scenes from the Myriorama are in preparation and will complete the three existing ones to savour this soft Mediterranean atmosphere with its clever staging.
A successful gamble for this new panoramic concept that is as daring as it is unexpected!
