Originally from London, Thorp of London was founded in 1971 by Bernard Thorp. A passionate and forward-thinking designer, he introduced a unique concept by positioning himself as a craftsman specialising in bespoke flat-bed printing on fabrics and wallpapers. The first collections were made up of artists’ designs and English textiles, sourced from auctions or private acquisitions, all reflecting the authentic charm of England.
The brand established its workshop in the heart of the Norfolk region, in the northeast of London, and became an expert in traditional hand screen printing. Thorp of London offers endless possibilities for creating fabrics and wallpapers tailored to individual tastes.
In addition to its expertise in flat-bed printing of fabrics and wallpapers, Thorp of London presents a collection of jacquard textiles woven in Sudbury, Suffolk. Crafted from a rich palette of materials and available in elegant shades, these weaves complement the brand’s iconic printed designs.
In 2022, Maison Pierre Frey acquired Thorp of London with the aim of preserving exceptional craftsmanship while strengthening its focus on bespoke creation, where each commission results in a unique piece.
