REENCHANTER LA VILLA MEDICIS

CONSTANCE GUISSET

As part of the vast renovation campaign entitled "Reenchanting the Villa Medici", which celebrates the dialogue between contemporary design, craftsmanship and historical heritage, six new guest rooms are being showcased. One of them, reinvented by the designer Constance Guisset, brings her poetic and sensitive vision to this place steeped in history.

These spaces, whose uses have evolved over the centuries, first as furniture storage in the 16th century and then as living quarters for the boarders of the Académie de France in Roma for over two hundred years, now welcome visitors who are invited to enjoy a unique experience at the heart of the Villa.

Fabrics, Furniture

With the STRATUS SUPRISUS project, Constance Guisset has created a room with an intimate atmosphere and a strong sense of verticality. She sublimates the existing architecture, preserving its historic features - high wooden coffered ceilings, brick herringbone floor, double casement windows, mezzanine - while reaffirming the singularity of the volumes. The designer has also incorporated the DUNE furniture line, which she designed for Maison Pierre Frey. Composed of solid wood tripod chairs and stools, the pieces in this contemporary and refined line are distinguished by their sculptural back legs, which extend the backrest in a curve that is both elegant and ethereal. In STRATUS SUPRISUS, the seats are upholstered in high-performance CASSIS fabric, a semi-plain linen in a delicate terracotta shade. This choice combines comfort, durability and stability with a warm, timeless look.
