PLISSÉ PLUMES is a subtle combination of pleating, Isabelle de Borchgrave's trademark, and the collage technique she is so fond of. The feather motifs are rearranged like a textile mosaic. The pleating adds depth and rhythm, while the collage fragments and recomposes. It is a tactile and sensory work reminiscent of the plumage of a rare bird, where each fragment evokes a feather.
This pattern is handcrafted in Nepal using knotted stitching. The texture of folded paper is evoked through alternating lines of pile and Himalayan wool loops.
