This design is based on a pleated painting by Isabelle de Borchgrave: the largest she ever created. Bold blocks of color, ultramarine blue and vermilion, frequently used by Isabelle, give it strength and reveal her vital energy, her freedom of composition, and her instinctive joy. COLORISTE is hand-tufted in New Zealand wool pile, interspersed with fine tone-on-tone loop lines that beautifully reflect the pleats of the original work.
