The collection first takes shape through the moodboards conceived by the Pierre Frey studio. More than simple sources of inspiration, they form a visual landscape, shaped by an ongoing exploration of imagery, gathered references, colour harmonies and evocative atmospheres that gradually give the collection its identity. From these compositions emerge the first creative impulses: a motif, a rhythm, a palette, a sensation. For Solstice, these boards open the door to a sensory exploration of the holiday spirit — an evocative world of light, movement and sun-drenched summer memories.

Drawing and colour then enter into a close dialogue. For Solstice, the palette does more than simply complement the pattern: it brings its emotional dimension to the fore, transforming the way it is perceived. Each rug is offered in two distinct colourways, evoking two suspended moments within the same summer day.

The first is vibrant and luminous, combining bold hues with aquatic freshness and sun-drenched energy. It conjures the livelier hours of the day — play, swimming and the full brilliance of the midday sun. The second is softer and more enveloping. Inspired by the light at day’s end, it unfolds in powdery pinks, subtle greys and golden accents, as contrasts soften and the landscape seems to be bathed in a single, lingering glow.

Created by the Pierre Frey Rug Studio, FRANK draws inspiration from the modernist architecture of seaside resorts and the graphic language of urban furniture. The studio distils the diversity of these forms, freely reinterpreting them like the pieces of a construction set, balancing geometry, rhythm and proportion.

Its creation begins with a spontaneous exploration of form and gesture. From the outset, vibrant, fresh colours accompany the design, immediately establishing a playful, sun-filled atmosphere. Gradually, the composition takes shape like a collage, striking a subtle balance between solid forms, open spaces and defining lines.

Made using a mixed technique combining tufting and weaving, FRANK reveals rich textural and dimensional effects. Variations in volume accentuate the structure of the design and heighten its graphic energy.
