A versatile artist brimming with ideas and energy, Raphaël Schmitt began his journey with training in cabinetmaking and ornamental sculpture. He first made his mark in New York, working in fashion and window display design. He then returned to Paris to collaborate on the creation of Loulou de la Falaise’s fashion house, the famous muse of Yves Saint Laurent, before daring to fully embrace painting as a profession. At the Vanderkelen Institute in Brussels, he mastered the discipline and ancestral techniques of decorative painting, honing his skills in the meticulous reproduction of wood and marble textures.
